New Delhi, 20 February (H.S.): The Delhi High Court has directed Jaydeep Sengar, brother of Kuldeep Singh Sengar and convicted in the Unnao rape case for the custodial death of the victim's father, to surrender at Tihar Jail by February 21. A Division Bench presided over by Justice Navin Chawla issued this order on Friday. The next hearing in the matter is scheduled for February 24.

Jaydeep Sengar had been granted interim bail in July 2024 for cancer treatment, with extensions provided periodically thereafter. On February 17, the court declined to extend his interim bail further; despite this, Jaydeep failed to surrender. The court instructed Jaydeep Sengar to surrender first, after which his petition would be heard; non-compliance will trigger coercive action. It also mandated the filing of a status report in this regard.
