New Delhi, 20 February (H.S.): The Delhi High Court bench of Justice Jyoti Singh has issued an interim order prohibiting the unauthorized use of any content associated with Bollywood actress Kajol Devgan on social media. The court ruled that the misuse of AI and deepfake technology to exploit elements tied to Kajol Devgan's personality is impermissible. It directed various defendants to promptly remove all pornographic and obscene material linked to the actress.
During the hearing on Friday, advocate Pravin Anand represented Kajol. The court observed that deepfakes, voice cloning, and manipulated visuals not only infringe upon personality rights but also violate dignity and privacy entitlements.
Nevertheless, the High Court clarified that satire, artistic expression, commentary, and news reporting remain exempt from these restrictions.
Previously, the High Court had issued similar directives safeguarding the personalities of actor Vivek Oberoi, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, actor Salman Khan, actor Ajay Devgan, actress and MP Jaya Bachchan, journalist Sudhir Chaudhary, Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Telugu actor Nagarjuna, actress Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, and film producer Karan Johar—barring any unauthorized exploitation.
