New Delhi, 20 February (H.S.): On Friday, the Delhi High Court issued a notice to Delhi Police regarding a bail application filed by Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar in the high-profile murder case of wrestler Sagar Dhankhar.
A bench presided over by Justice Anoop Jairam Bhambhani directed Delhi Police to submit a detailed status report on the matter. The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for May 4
Sushil Kumar, a double Olympic medal winner, has challenged the Rohini Court's rejection of his bail plea, which occurred on February 6. In his petition, he asserted that all key witnesses in the case have already been examined, thereby eliminating any risk of evidence tampering.
Earlier, the Delhi High Court had granted bail to Sushil Kumar on March 4, 2025. However, the Supreme Court revoked this on August 13, 2025, observing that crucial witness statements remained pending, prompting his surrender thereafter.
