BJP national president Nitin Nabin took to X to express heartfelt reverence, stating, On the Jayanti of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ji, the great initiator of 'Hindavi Swarajya' and symbol of indomitable valor, I offer my infinite salutations. His extraordinary courage, visionary leadership, and unwavering devotion to the motherland have established him as the epitome of patriotism, duty, and justice.

Historical Legacy

Born on February 19, 1630, at Shivneri Fort in Pune district, present-day Maharashtra, Shivaji was the son of Maratha general Shahji Bhonsle, who held jagirs of Pune and Supa under the Bijapur Sultanate. His mother Jijabai, a deeply pious woman, profoundly influenced his character with her religious and ethical values.

The valiant warrior founded the Hindavi Swarajya empire, engaging in countless battles, defeating Mughals repeatedly, and conquering hundreds of forts to establish Maratha sovereignty.
