New Delhi, 18 February (H.S.): The Central Government has ordered Galgotias University in Greater Noida to immediately vacate its stall at the India AI Impact Expo on Wednesday following allegations that it misrepresented a Chinese robotic dog as its own indigenous technology.

The controversy erupted at the Bharat Mandapam venue during the India AI Impact Summit, where the university showcased the robot—dubbed as developed in-house—as a pinnacle of Indian innovation.

A viral video from the expo's second day captured the robotic dogs, which quickly drew scrutiny from tech experts and social media users identifying it as Unitree's model, a commercially available Chinese product priced between ₹2-3 lakh. This AI-powered quadruped employs 4D LiDAR technology, enabling it to navigate stairs and rugged terrain effortlessly.

In response, Galgotias University issued a clarification on X, stating: The recently purchased robodog from Unitree is solely for demonstration. It is being used to teach students, who are experimenting with it, testing its limits, and expanding their knowledge.

Galgotias University has neither built this robodog nor ever claimed to have done so. However, we are building minds that will soon design, engineer, and manufacture such technologies right here in India.
