Kathmandu, 06 November (H.S.): Passengers arriving at Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport will now be able to watch the handling of their luggage in real time. In a move aimed at making baggage management more transparent, organised and passenger-friendly, a live video feed of the baggage drop area has been made available in the baggage claim section of the airport’s arrival hall.

Under the new arrangement, passengers arriving in Nepal on international flights will be able to monitor the process through which their luggage is transported from the aircraft to the baggage carousel after being unloaded. The facility is expected to help passengers keep track of their belongings and estimate how long they may have to wait before collecting their baggage.

Until now, passengers had no way of knowing how long it would take for luggage unloaded from an aircraft to reach the baggage claim area. This often left travellers uncertain while waiting, as they had little information about the progress of baggage-handling operations. The new system will allow them to observe activities in the baggage drop area from the arrival hall itself, making the waiting process more convenient and better organised.

The airport administration expects the initiative to enhance the overall passenger experience at Tribhuvan International Airport and make its services more traveller-friendly. The move is also being viewed as part of broader efforts to improve the quality of passenger services, ensure greater transparency in service delivery and bring airport operations in line with international standards through the adoption of modern technology.
