Kathmandu, 06 October (H.S.): The parliamentary hearing process for 13 individuals recommended by the Nepal government for appointment as ambassadors to various countries will begin on Tuesday.

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, at the meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee scheduled for 11:15 a.m., the complaints filed against the proposed ambassadors will be distributed among committee members. The work plans submitted by the ambassadorial nominees will also be made available to the members.

A total of seven complaints have been registered against the 13 proposed ambassadors. Two of the complaints have been filed against all 13 nominees, while five complaints have been lodged individually against specific nominees.

The government recommended the appointment of 13 ambassadors at a Cabinet meeting held on September 18. Following the recommendation, the Parliamentary Hearing Committee initiated the hearing process.

For India, the government has recommended Dr. Nischal Nath Pandey; for China, Dr. Kalyan Raj Sharma; for the United States, Chiran Jung Thapa; and for the United Kingdom, former Army Chief Gaurav Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana.

Similarly, the government has recommended Jigyān Kumar Thapa for Japan, Suresh Kumar Karn for Israel, Prapti Sherchan for Spain, Sharu Joshi for Germany, Dr. Padmakshi Rana for Oman, Chudamani Kharel for Malaysia, Prof. Dr. Sangam Shrestha for South Korea, Dr. Manchala Jha for Sri Lanka, and Giri Bahadur Sunar for Saudi Arabia.

Under Article 292 of the Constitution of Nepal, the Parliamentary Hearing Committee is responsible for conducting parliamentary hearings of individuals recommended for appointment to ambassadorial posts.
