Tehran, 05 October (H.S.):

Iran has summoned Norway’s ambassador over Starlink operations, protesting what it described as Oslo’s continued failure to take action against unauthorised Starlink satellite internet services operating in parts of Iran.

According to a report by Al Jazeera, Iran’s state-run Press TV said in a statement that Mohammad Hassan-Nejad Pirkouhi, Director General at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, summoned Norwegian Ambassador Paul Bjornstad on Sunday and handed him an official note of protest.

Pirkouhi accused the United States and Israel of deliberately misusing Starlink to advance what he described as an interventionist agenda against Iran. Starlink is a satellite internet service operated by SpaceX, the US aerospace company founded by billionaire Elon Musk.

He said Norway had failed to fulfil its legal responsibilities as the country that registered Starlink services with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a specialised agency of the United Nations.

“It is the responsibility of the Norwegian government to take the necessary measures to prevent unauthorised Starlink transmissions in Iranian territory,” he said.

Pirkouhi further alleged that Norway had ignored Iran’s requests to take action, thereby increasing what Tehran described as threats to Iran’s national security and territorial sovereignty.
