Quetta (Balochistan), Pakistan, October 4 (HS): The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed that its women’s wing, the Kareema Armed Assault Division, and the Harawal unit’s Qurban Unit jointly attacked and destroyed the main military camp of the 58th Wing of the Frontier Corps (FC) in the Mashkail Gurinder area of Washuk on October 1. The group claimed that 18 officers at the camp were killed in the attack.
According to a report by The Balochistan Post, BLF spokesperson Major Ghoram Baloch claimed that the camp was surrounded and attacked with rockets, grenade launchers and automatic weapons. He claimed that 18 Pakistani Army officers were killed and several others wounded in the attack. Several army personnel reportedly fled the camp during the assault. Reinforcements that arrived to assist the troops were also targeted, with several personnel allegedly killed. The reinforcements were subsequently forced to withdraw, according to the claim.
Baloch alleged that the military was concealing the number of casualties but later transported the bodies by helicopter to Panjgur. He said two commanders of the organisation, identified as martyred Sajid alias Mehran and Abdul Khaliq alias Nautak, were killed during the fighting.
The statement said the significant role played by the Kareema Armed Assault Division in the attack demonstrated that women in the Baloch national movement were no longer confined to political or ideological roles, but had entered the battlefield against what it described as repressive policies and state oppression. The Balochistan Liberation Front claimed responsibility for the attack.
According to another report by The Balochistan Post, Mahmood Hashim, a resident of Prom in the Jain area of Panjgur district, has allegedly been detained and disappeared again by the Pakistani military. Hashim was previously detained on March 16 and June 3, 2021, and was subsequently released. His relatives have appealed to human rights organisations for assistance in locating him.
Meanwhile, unidentified armed men allegedly shot and killed a man in the Zaridan area of the Balida tehsil in Kech district. He was identified as Hamid Aulad Syed. The report claimed that he had been providing information to Pakistan’s security forces.
