Muscat/New Delhi, October 3 (HS): Five Indian nationals aboard the Kuwait-flagged crude oil tanker MT Kazimah III were safely rescued and brought ashore after the vessel was struck by a projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

The Embassy of India in Muscat coordinated the rescue and evacuation operation, ensuring that all five Indian nationals aboard the tanker were safely brought ashore.

The Indian Embassy in Oman said that MT Kazimah III was passing through the Strait of Hormuz when it was struck by a projectile. Following the incident, a rescue operation was launched to evacuate the five Indian nationals on board. The Embassy subsequently confirmed that all five had been safely shifted ashore.

The Embassy specifically thanked the Omani authorities for their support and assistance in carrying out the rescue operation.

There was no immediate official information indicating which side had fired the projectile. The Embassy also did not provide details regarding the extent of damage sustained by the vessel or the precise circumstances surrounding the strike.

According to available vessel-tracking and media reports, MT Kazimah III is a crude oil tanker sailing under the flag of Kuwait. At the time of the incident, the vessel was reportedly en route to Lomé, Togo. Vessel-tracking data identifies the ship as a tanker with IMO number 9329693.
