Quetta, 03 October (H.S.): Two Baloch armed groups in Balochistan have claimed responsibility for attacks targeting electricity infrastructure and Pakistani military convoys. One of the groups claimed that four soldiers were killed in an ambush on a military convoy in Kachhi district. The claims could not be independently verified.

According to The Balochistan Post, the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) said on Friday that its fighters used explosives to destroy two main electricity transmission towers in the Katpar area of Sibi. Two other towers were also severely damaged in the attack, the group claimed.

BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch also claimed that the group had attacked a Pakistani military convoy near Sanni in Kachhi district on Thursday evening. He said the fighters targeted one vehicle with heavy and automatic weapons, resulting in several military personnel being killed or wounded. However, the organisation did not provide a specific casualty figure.

Meanwhile, the United Baloch Army (UBA) separately claimed that its fighters attacked a three-vehicle military convoy in the Sanni Chighardi area of Kachhi at around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. According to the group, four soldiers were killed and several others were seriously wounded.

UBA spokesperson Mazar Baloch claimed that the military convoy was involved in an ongoing military operation in the area. He said the ensuing exchange of fire lasted approximately 90 minutes, after which the group's fighters withdrew from the area.

Both organisations have called for an independent Balochistan and have said they intend to continue their armed campaigns. The United Baloch Army is a Baloch separatist militant organisation, while the Baloch Republican Guards is associated with the wider Baloch separatist insurgency.

The claims of responsibility and casualty figures in the latest incidents have not been independently verified. Pakistani authorities had not provided independent confirmation of the reported attacks at the time of the report.
