Doha, 29 October (H.S.): Qatar has categorically rejected allegations that it is interfering in Israeli elections or financing activities aimed at influencing their outcome, describing the accusations as “absurd and dangerous”.
Majed Al Ansari, spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a post on the social media platform X that Qatar unequivocally denied any allegations that it was intervening in Israeli elections or funding activities intended to influence their results.
He said several Israeli politicians and media figures had levelled various allegations against Qatar. Previously, Doha had been accused of attempting to influence Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the political left, while the latest allegations suggested that Qatar was seeking to influence Arab voters during the election campaign.
Al Ansari said the accusations being directed at Qatar were equally absurd and dangerous. Without naming those responsible, he suggested that the allegations stemmed from a misunderstanding.
