US Interested in Russian Technology for LNG Plant in Alaska — Russia's Oreshkin

MOSCOW, October 28 (HS/RIA Novosti) - The United States is interested in building a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in Alaska using Russian gas-liquefaction trains, as this is more cost-effective than domestic technology, Russian Presidential Executive Office Deputy Chief of Staff Maxim Oreshkin said on Wednesday.

America is discussing with us the possibility of implementing a liquefied natural gas project based on Russian technologies. Russia has become the first and only country in the world to develop a technology for building turnkey plants on platforms designed to be stationed in coastal waters, Oreshkin said during a meeting with participants of the Russia-Africa media forum, adding that The use of such platforms in Alaska is currently being actively discussed, and American partners understand that employing Russian technological solutions yields much better economic efficiency than the solutions the US itself currently has in place.

At the same time, the official recalled that, conversely, just 20–30 years ago, Russia was actively making use of US technologies in the oil and gas sector.

The third Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum and Summit is taking place in Moscow on October 28-29. RIA Novosti is an information partner of the summit and the forum.
