MOSCOW, October 28 (HS/RIA Novosti) - Trade between Russia and Africa will be able to overcome $50 billion mark in the very near future, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.
Over the past few years, there has been a noticeable increase in mutual trade. The Russian-African trade exceeded $27 billion last year. In 2022, by the way, it was only 18 [billion], so a significant increase. However, of course, this is not enough. I am convinced that we can increase this figure even more in the very near future, at least twice, and definitely overcome the 50 billion mark, Putin said at the plenary session of the Russia-Africa economic and Humanitarian forum.
Trade and economic relations between Russia and Africa are developing despite pressure and sanctions, Putin added.
The third Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum and Summit will be held in Moscow on October 28-29. RIA Novosti is an information partner of the summit and the forum.
