MOSCOW, October 24 (HS/RIA Novosti) - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian plans to discuss economic cooperation, energy security and geopolitical issues with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Moscow in late October, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali told RIA Novosti.
On October 19, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told Pezeshkian during a visit to Tehran that Putin was expecting him at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit in Moscow in late October and hoped to hold a bilateral meeting.
The main topics of discussion will be economic and trade cooperation between Iran and Russia. Issues such as the North-South International Transport Corridor, energy security, food security and the development of trade relations will be addressed, Jalali said.
At the same time, the presidents will exchange views on geopolitical, international and political issues, the ambassador added. Jalali said that the presidents have met several times in recent months to discuss various issues, covering a wide range of topics.
The number of issues under discussion corresponds to the level of cooperation between the two countries and the critical situation in the region and the world, the Iranian ambassador added.
At the same time, Jalali said that no documents are planned to be signed by the presidents of the two countries during the upcoming visit.
