PTI Leaders Blame Sohail Afridi for Long March Failure

Peshawar, 19 October (H.S.): Differences have reportedly emerged within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over the failure of the party's long march, with some leaders holding Chief Minister Sohail Afridi responsible for shortcomings in its planning and coordination.

The issue was discussed at a meeting of the party's core committee, where participants also reviewed the lack of progress in negotiations and deliberated on the party's future political strategy.

According to accounts of the meeting, a senior central leader accused Afridi of failing to inform the party's central and provincial leadership about plans for the long march, prompting a discussion among members. Several participants reportedly blamed Mahmood Achakzai for the failure of negotiations, although differing views were expressed.

Afridi's departure from Mardan for the Chief Minister's House also came under scrutiny. One leader questioned the move, while a senior party figure reportedly linked it to the low turnout.

The committee also discussed Barrister Saif, with one member proposing that he be given an active role in the party again.

PTI has convened another core committee meeting to review its political strategy and decide its next course of action.
