Ukraine Faces More Than $160 Billion in Public Debt Payments Through 2037

Moscow, 18 October (H.S.): Ukraine will have to pay $160.348 billion over the next decade to meet its public debt obligations, including principal repayments and other debt-related payments, according to an analysis of the Ukrainian Finance Ministry’s payment schedule.

The analysis found that Ukraine is scheduled to pay the amount by the end of 2037. The findings are based on the ministry’s published repayment schedule, which sets out the payments included in its payment calendar.

The Finance Ministry regularly prepares a schedule of payments relating to the country’s public debt. However, the schedule covers only those payments that the ministry has incorporated into its payment calendar and does not represent the total outstanding public debt of Ukraine.

Ukraine’s total public debt had reached $215.55 billion by the end of August.

According to the payment schedule, Ukraine will need to repay $103.813 billion in principal on its domestic and external debt by the end of 2037. In addition, the country will have to pay another $56.535 billion in other debt-related obligations, bringing the total scheduled payments to $160.348 billion over the next decade.
