MOSCOW, October 17 (HS/RIA Novosti) - French President Emmanuel Macron, commenting on the agreements between the United States and Russia on diesel fuel, admitted that this serves as a source of division between Washington and Europe.
It is a negative signal, as well as an element of split and doubts. I don’t think this will be useful. It will rather cause distrust, Macron said about Trump’s actions at a briefing after the EU summit in Brussels.
He added he would attempt to persuade the American leader otherwise, while working on measures to lower fuel prices.
On October 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump reached an agreement on the supply of Russian diesel fuel to the global market. After that, Trump once again expressed his dissatisfaction with Vladimir Zelensky’s lack of readiness for peace agreements and his unwillingness to cease strikes on Russian oil refineries. Trump stated Ukraine needs a new leader capable of reaching an agreement with Russia.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak has said the Kiev regime has shown no movement toward an energy truce, having attacked oil refineries in the Saratov and Ryazan regions on October 14. Zelensky publicly voiced his indignation regarding the Russia-US agreement on diesel fuel, and later even claimed that he had previously prohibited strikes on Russian oil refineries, but that such a prohibition was no longer in place.
