Kathmandu, October 17 (H.S.): The Tatopani border crossing between Nepal and China will be temporarily reopened for three days to facilitate the smooth supply of goods and essential commodities in Nepal. Located approximately 110 kilometres north-east of Kathmandu, the Tatopani crossing is an important trade route between the two countries.

Following sustained efforts by Nepal’s Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Deepak Kumar Sah, the Chinese side has accepted Nepal’s request and agreed to reopen the crossing temporarily.

Under the decision, the Tatopani border crossing will remain operational from October 18 to 20. During this period, only cargo trucks will be permitted to pass through the crossing. The government has initiated the temporary reopening to ensure an uninterrupted supply of essential commodities during the festival season.

The move is expected to facilitate trade between Nepal and China while helping improve the availability of essential goods during the festive period.

It may be recalled that China closed the Tatopani crossing on August 31, following floods in the Bhotekoshi River on August 26. The closure was imposed citing security concerns and geographical risks in the area.
