
Moscow, 10 October (H.S.): Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation on Friday evening, focusing primarily on efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine and discussing tensions involving Iran, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Saturday.
The call was initiated by Trump, with the two leaders discussing possible steps towards a settlement of the Ukraine conflict. Peskov said Putin expressed understanding of several proposals put forward by the US President to de-escalate the situation.
The conversation also covered developments involving Iran and broader regional security concerns. According to Peskov, Putin conveyed Tehran's perspective on a possible resolution of the conflict to Trump.
The discussion followed Putin's meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of a regional summit in Turkmenistan. Putin met Pezeshkian twice during the summit and informed him of his planned telephone conversation with
Trump, coordinating the message to be conveyed to the US leader, Peskov said.
