Islamabad, 01 October (H.S.): Pakistan has claimed that its airstrikes in Afghanistan killed 22 militants, while the Taliban government said the strikes resulted in the deaths of nine civilians. The information was reported in Thursday’s editions of The News and The Balochistan Post.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Information said the strikes were carried out as part of Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq. According to the ministry, Pakistani Air Force aircraft targeted militant camps, destroying weapons and ammunition stored at the sites. The ministry also expressed concern that Afghanistan continues to serve as a hub for terrorism.
Separately, defence sources said security forces had killed six militants in Balochistan’s Kachhi district. The sources claimed that a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered during the operation. Several militant hideouts and tunnels were also destroyed, they said.
The Taliban government said Pakistani aircraft targeted three locations in Afghanistan on Thursday. According to the Taliban, nine people were killed in the strikes.
Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said in a post on X that women and children were among those killed in the attacks in Kunar and Helmand provinces. He said 11 other people were injured.
The conflicting accounts could not be independently verified.
