Kabir Nagar, 08 Jan (HS): Police detained two accused cow slaughterers during a
confrontation in Rakshakala village on Thursday morning, according to police. Sant
Kabir Nagar SP Sandeep Kumar Meena said police got information that a gang was
reportedly murdering cows in the vicinity. When a police squad arrived at the
scene to apprehend the suspects, they opened fire, sparking police retaliation,
according to officials. Two of the suspects were detained after being shot in
the legs, while three others escaped, according to the SP.
The
wounded duo, Alauddin alias Koyeel (28) from Rakshakala village and Eklakh (50)
from Kathakpurwa village in neighboring Basti district, have been admitted to
the district hospital and are stated to be safe, according to the SP. Meena
said police found two country-made handguns, two live rounds, two knives, and
flesh that seemed to be beef at the scene. He stated that efforts are on to
locate and apprehend the three absconding suspects.
