Guwahati, 8 January (HS): A major fire broke out at a workshop in the Lokhra Chariali area of Guwahati late Wednesday night, reducing the facility and several buses to ashes. The incident occurred at New SS Motor Works, a workshop located along the Garbhanga road.
According to reports, the workshop is owned by one Sujit Singh. In the fire, four brand-new super bus chassis and several other buses that were parked for repair work were completely destroyed.
The fire reportedly broke out after midnight, but the exact cause of the blaze has not yet been ascertained. Notably, no repair work was underway at the workshop at the time of the incident, making the cause of the fire a matter of mystery.
Following information from local residents, more than ten fire tenders rushed to the spot and made efforts to control the blaze. However, by the time the fire was brought under control, all buses present inside the workshop had already been gutted.
Police have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the losses incurred in the incident.--------------
