Bhubaneswar, 08 January (H.S.): An anonymous e-mail containing a threat to cause damage to court premises has been received at several courts in the state, Director General of Police (DGP), Odisha, said on Thursday.

Taking the matter seriously, the police have taken cognizance of the threat and initiated a comprehensive investigation to trace its source and assess its credibility.

As a precautionary measure, police checking has been intensified and enhanced security arrangements have been put in place at all concerned court locations. Senior police officers are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of court campus and the general public.

The DGP has appealed to citizens not to panic and to cooperate with the police by promptly reporting any suspicious activity, assuring that all necessary steps are being taken to maintain law and order and ensure public safety.
