New Delhi, 07 January (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today emphasized the importance of four fundamental values for a meaningful life, urging citizens to focus on character, conduct, knowledge, and responsible resource use.
Speaking through a social media post on X (formerly Twitter) Wednesday morning, the Prime Minister highlighted that true beauty and respect are not defined by appearances or lineage, but by one’s virtues and behavior.
PM Modi shared a Sanskrit subhashita, underscoring timeless wisdom:Guṇo bhūṣayate rūpaṁ, śīlaṁ bhūṣayate kulam,
Siddhirbhūṣayate vidyāṁ, bhogo bhūṣayate dhanam. This translates to: Virtues adorn one’s appearance, good conduct adorns a family, achievement adorns knowledge, and responsible use adorns wealth.
The Prime Minister explained that these ancient principles remain as relevant today as they were centuries ago. He stressed that a nation progresses not merely by wealth accumulation or outward display, but by nurturing good character, performing righteous deeds, and using resources wisely.
Progress is not just about earning and showcasing; it is about becoming a better person, doing the right things, and maintaining a balanced use of resources,PM Modi said.He added that knowledge should not be confined to books alone, but must be applied in practical life to bring tangible results. While earning money is not wrong, the real value lies in how it is spent—whether it benefits oneself, society, and the environment in a positive way.
PM Modi’s message comes at a time when discussions around personal growth, social responsibility, and sustainable development are gaining momentum across the country. His words serve as a reminder that lasting success and respect are built on integrity, purpose, and mindful action.
