
New Delhi, 06 January (H.S.): Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, along with several other leaders, expressed deep sorrow on Tuesday over the demise of former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Suresh Kalmadi.Kalmadi, who was 81, breathed his last early this morning in Pune district, Maharashtra, after a prolonged illness.
Gadkari, in a social media post, said, “I am deeply saddened by the passing of former Union Minister Suresh Kalmadi. He served the nation with dedication in various capacities. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and well-wishers at this difficult time. Om Shanti!”
DMK Deputy General Secretary Kanimozhi Karunanidhi recalled that Kalmadi’s courage and enthusiasm during challenging times would always be remembered.
Telangana’s Transport and BC Welfare Minister Poonam Prabhakar said Kalmadi’s contributions to public life would be remembered and extended her deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.
Mahesh Kumar Goud, Member of the Legislative Council, Nizamabad, and President of Telangana Congress, stated that Kalmadi served public life with great commitment and his contributions would be remembered.
Assam Congress Secretary Prithviraj Sathe said Kalmadi was his political mentor and guide, and the pain of his passing could not be put into words.
