New Delhi, 06 January (H.S.): A devastating fire broke out in a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) flat near Majlis Park Metro Station in Adarsh Nagar, North-West Delhi, in the early hours of Tuesday, claiming the lives of a husband, wife, and their 10-year-old daughter. The incident was confirmed by the Delhi Fire Services.

According to fire officials, the blaze was reported at around 2:39 a.m. in a flat on the fifth floor. Six fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the site. Firefighters found the charred bodies of three people inside the flat. The deceased have been identified as Ajay (42), his wife Neelam (38), and their daughter Jhanvi (10).

Police sources stated that the fire originated in household items kept in one room and quickly spread, engulfing the entire room. The fire spread so rapidly that the three occupants could not escape, resulting in their deaths at the scene.

The fire was fully extinguished by 6:40 a.m. During firefighting operations, a fire department employee, Rakesh, sustained a cut on his hand and was taken to Jagjivan Ram Hospital for treatment. After initial medical care, Rakesh was discharged. Police have sent the bodies for postmortem examination, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
