Churachandpur (Manipur), 19 January (HS): A joint team comprising security forces, the Forest Department, the Narcotics Affairs Branch (NAB) and an Executive Magistrate carried out a major anti-narcotics operation on Monday, destroying illegal poppy cultivation spread across approximately 22 acres in the Dampi area under Sangaikot Police Station in Churachandpur district.

During the operation, three huts found at the cultivation site were set on fire and destroyed. The team also seized ten samples of poppy plants along with pods for further examination and legal proceedings.

Officials stated that such coordinated operations will continue as part of the ongoing drive against illegal drug cultivation and related activities in the district.----------
