East Medinipur, 02 January (H.S.): The body of a BJP worker, who had been missing for four days, was recovered from a pond near his home in Sudampur area under Mayna police station in East Medinipur district. The deceased has been identified as Subrata Adhikari (33). His family and local BJP leaders alleged murder and a conspiracy. The police have launched an investigation into the matter.

As per information, Subrata Adhikari, a resident of Sudampur, left his home on Sunday evening, saying he was going to attend a programme organized for Hanuman Puja in Balaipanda area. He did not return home afterward. His family searched for him in several places but found no trace. On Thursday afternoon, his body was recovered from a pond near his house. On information, the police arrived at the scene and sent the for post-mortem.

The deceased's mother, Kajal Devi, alleged that her son was murdered. She said that Subrata had no enemies and that he was killed as part of a conspiracy. Local BJP leaders have also expressed suspicions of murder.

Mayna BJP leader Sujit Bera said, “Subrata was an active party worker. If the body had been in the water for four days, there would be clear signs of decomposition, but that doesn't seem to be the case. His mobile phone has also not been found yet. He was previously abducted, taken to Mahishadal, and beaten. The Trinamool Congress is conspiring to suppress the BJP before the elections. The police are inactive despite knowing everything.”

However, the Trinamool Congress has completely rejected all the allegations. The police said that whether it is a case of murder or something else will only be known after the post-mortem report and further investigation. Currently, the police are investigating the case from all angles.
