Imphal, 2 January (HS): Security Forces in last 24 hours, neutralized 27 country-made bombs at a safe location near the Monglham village area under Thoubal Dam Police Station in Imphal East district, police informed on Friday. The explosives were recovered from the said area and subsequently destroyed following standard safety procedures, officials said.

On the same day, Security Forces arrested an active cadre of the proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), identified as Tekcham Mani Meitei alias Jacob (51), a resident of Wangjing Wangkhei in Thoubal district, presently residing at Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, Lane No. 5, under Imphal East district. From his possession, Security Forces recovered one HP keyboard, one mobile handset, and one Aadhaar card.

In another operation, Security Forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the Langdum Nungjengbi area under Irilbung Police Station in Imphal East district. The recovered items included one local-made .32 pistol with magazine, one 12-bore SBBL gun, one rifle, two No. 36 hand grenades, 135 rounds of ammunition of different calibers, two lathode shells, four pompi shells, six magazines of different arms, three detonators, four 7.62 mm charger clips, one tube launcher, and two Baofeng wireless radio sets.

Security Forces stated that such operations are part of continued efforts to curb insurgent activities and ensure peace and security in the region.-----------
