(HS): In a rare case former legislators are seen contesting elections of
Municipal Corporations. Two such examples in Maharashtra were recorded.
Prakash
Gajbhiye, a former Legislative Council member has filed nomination papers in
Nagpur. He started his career as a corporator in Nagpur Municipal Corporation.
A staunch supporte of Republican leader Ramdas Athawale changed the guards to
enter the Nationalsit Congress Party, after Athawale joined hands with
Bharatiya Janata Party.
Gajbhiye stayed
with NCP’s Sharad Pawar group after the party experienced fraction.
MUMBAI: Shiv
Sena has issued ticket to former legislature Yamini Jadhav, who has filed
nomination from Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s Byculla Prabhag 209.
Prakash Gajbhiye
and Yamini Jadhav are two rare examples of for legislators contesting the civic
body elections.
