Lucknow,
02 Jan (HS): Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati expressed
grief over the deaths in Indore due to drinking contaminated water. She
appealed to the government to take strict action against those endangering the
lives of ordinary citizens. The BSP chief posted on X on Friday, which reads as
follows: “Many innocent citizens have died after drinking contaminated water in
Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Many are ill. This incident is extremely sad and
shocking and is being widely discussed. Such irresponsibility and indifference
have understandably caused widespread outrage not only locally but across the
country.”
She
further wrote that while providing people with clean air and water is the
primary responsibility of every government, government negligence and
corruption, just like crime control and law and order, are proving to be quite
fatal in the provision of basic public services. Families are being devastated,
which is deeply saddening and concerning. She added that the state government
needs to continue taking the strongest possible steps to prevent such shameful
acts of endangering the lives of citizens. Furthermore, the central government
must take appropriate cognizance and take effective action to prevent such
tragic incidents from occurring in any other state.
