Kolkata, 13 January (H.S.): The Special Intensive Rivision(SIR) hearing now includes individuals ranging from MPs and former MLAs to Nobel laureates and players who have represented the country. Adding to this list are Bengal football legend and former Mohan Bagan president Swapan Sadhan Bose, also known as Tutu Bose, and his son Srinjoy Bose. Furthermore, all members of the Bose family have been summoned for the SIR hearing. The family has been instructed to appear on January 19th.

Tutu Bose is considered a legend in Bengal football. He is a former president of Mohan Bagan club and a former Rajya Sabha MP. His son, Srinjoy Bose, is also a former MP and currently the secretary of the Mohon Bagan club. Many are surprised that such prominent figures have been summoned for the hearing.

Earlier, the Election Commission had also sent notices to several well-known personalities from Bengal, including Amartya Sen, Alok Mukhopadhyay, Tarun Dey, Mehtab Hossain, Mohammed Shami, and Laxmi Ratan Shukla. The commission claims that notices will be sent to all those cases where informational inconsistencies or logical discrepancies have been found. It is in this context that Tutu Bose's name has surfaced.

On Monday, former football players staged a protest on Rani Rashmoni Road in front of the Bhawanipur Club. They alleged that Tutu Bose was being harassed in the name of the SIR. The protest included former players like Manas Bhattacharya, Alok Mukhopadhyay, and Compton Dutta, along with several young footballers. The protesters claimed that the Election Commission is harassing ordinary citizens in an attempt to complete two years' worth of work in two months. They also questioned why those who have dedicated themselves to the country are now being forced to prove their citizenship.

A Trinamool Congress spokesperson reacted strongly to the entire matter, targeting the BJP and the Election Commission. He said that Tutu Bose is seriously ill and cannot move around without a wheelchair. The fact that she is being asked to prove her Indian citizenship under these circumstances is extremely unfortunate.
