Chennai, 13 January (H.S.) : Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday called for the development of an India where every citizen respects the diverse languages, cultures, and religions of others. Addressing a gathering of students and teachers during the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of St Thomas English High School in Gudalur, Tamil Nadu, the leader emphasized the importance of kindness and mutual respect in national progress.

He stated that his primary goal is to foster an environment where people listen to one another and treat each other with love and affection, reflecting a vision for a more cohesive and harmonious society.

Speaking on the challenges of the modern era, Rahul Gandhi highlighted the role of educational institutions in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data. He noted that while information is now freely accessible, the true job of a school is to help students transform that information into knowledge and, ultimately, wisdom.

Authorities and educators present at the event were urged to create wise citizens who are not merely carried away by the sheer volume of digital data but are equipped to handle it with maturity to ensure the world remains a pleasant place.

The Congress leader also stressed that humility is the most essential value for students, teachers, and politicians alike. His visit to the state comes amid a heating political climate as Tamil Nadu prepares for the 2026 assembly elections.

With a triangular contest emerging between the DMK-Congress alliance, the AIADMK-BJP front, and actor Vijay’s TVK, Gandhi’s message of inclusivity is seen as a significant outreach to the electorate.

Political observers noted that his focus on cultural respect aligns with the ongoing regional debates regarding linguistic pride and state identity.
