murdering his stepmother and stepbrother with a sharp knife after an altercation
on Tuesday morning. The accused also attempted to dispose of the remains, but
bystanders alerted authorities, revealing the crime.
According
to police authorities, at 5.00 a.m. on Tuesday, a man called Rahul Gupta (35)
attacked his stepmother Usha (55), and her son Ayush Gupta (30), with a sharp
weapon. According
to Additional Superintendent of Police Manish Kumar Mishra, Rahul used a knife
to assault his stepbrother Ayush following an altercation in the morning. Rahul
assaulted his mother, Usha, with the knife when she attempted to intervene.
He
claimed the accused attempted to dispose the remains on a tractor-trolley.
However, Ayush's corpse dropped off near the Marhihan crossroads, and Rahul was

returning, the accused was attempting to hide Ayush's body, which was lying on
the road, with a sheet, when two pedestrians noticed him and raised an alert.
According
to the ASP, after getting information, police arrived and apprehended Rahul,
who was attempting to flee the scene. They also found a tractor-trolley and a
knife that were reportedly used in the crime. According to the ASP, the accused
admitted to putting his stepmother's body into the canal. A police search
effort is underway in the canal to recover her remains. Mishra confirmed that
Ayush's body had been submitted for post-mortem examination.
