Bhubaneswar, 13 January (H.S.): A fire broke out at Jharsuguda railway station on Tuesday, prompting an immediate response from fire services and causing disruption to normal operations. No casualties have been reported.

Preliminary findings suggest the blaze may have been triggered by a short circuit in an air-conditioning unit installed on the station premises. Firefighters rushed to the spot and are working to bring the situation fully under control.

The incident led to a power outage and damage to key facilities, including the ticket counter, the station master’s office and the DTC chamber. The exact extent of the damage is yet to be assessed.

Train services are likely to remain suspended until the situation stabilises and electrical and communication systems are restored.
