
Mumbai, 13 Jan (HS): Bharatiya Janata Party removed
54 office bearers and workers in Nashik from their party for six years for
anti-party activities. They are contesting elections as independents or from
other political parties, after BJP rejected their applications for the
municipal elections.
Nashik District Unit President Sunil Kedar said that
those suspended include 20 former corporators. Kedar said that against 122
seats1,077 workers had appeared for the interviews. Party tickets for only 122
aspirants was possible. Many could understand the situation and are campaigning
for the official candidates. But 54 office bearers and workers r5evolted and
are contesting elections as independents or from other parties. They have been
suspended by the party for six years.
