Bhubaneswar, 13 January (H.S.): One woman was killed and two others were critically injured after a private ambulance and an SUV collided head-on on the Digapahandi–Dengaushta main road near Kapamandi in Ganjam district in the early hours of Tuesday.

The accident occurred in the early morning when a Bolero vehicle collided with a private ambulance travelling from Gajapati. The deceased was identified as Lalita Nayak, a resident of Kashipur in Rayagada district.

Lalita was returning home from Cuttack Medical College and Hospital along with her sister and nephew after receiving treatment. Lalita died on the spot, while the other two sustained serious injuries.

They were rushed to Digapahandi Hospital and later referred to Berhampur for advanced treatment. Digapahandi police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
