Varanasi,

12 Jan (HS): In the religious city of Varanasi (Kashi) in Uttar Pradesh, the

54th birthday of Congress Party's National General Secretary MP Priyanka Gandhi

Vadra (PGV) was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the workers on Monday.

Under the leadership of the party's Uttar Pradesh President Ajay Rai, the district

and metropolitan workers performed Rudrabhishek at Mahamrityunjay Temple in

Daranagar and prayed for Priyanka Gandhi's long and healthy life along with a

bright future. After this, the workers wished their leader a happy birthday.

Before this, under the leadership of the state president, Rudrabhishek started

at 8.15 am with the chanting of Vedic mantras. During this, Varanasi District

President Rajeshwar Patel and Metropolitan President Raghvend Choubey, Durga

Prasad Gupta, Satnam Singh, Abdul Hameed Dode, Mahila Congress officials and

other workers were also present.

Meanwhile,

MP Priyanka Gandhi has described the police action during a protest on National

Students Union of India (NSUI) workers in Varanasi on Sunday over the renaming

of MNREGA as cowardly. She wrote on her official social media

account, The brutal use of force and arrests of NSUI students peacefully

protesting in Varanasi against the abolition of MNREGA, which takes away the

right to employment from millions of workers, is highly condemnable.

We

strongly condemn this cowardly action. The Narendra Modi government is

depriving millions of workers of their legal right to employment, and force is

being used against those who speak out. Every Congress Party worker stands

firmly against this injustice, oppression, and repression. Student union

workers are energized by the support of their party leader, Priyanka Gandhi.
