
Kamrup (Assam), 12 January (HS): At least two members of a family have killed and three others sustained serious injuries after a sand-laden dumper overturned onto a house in the Goroimari area of Kamrup (Rural) district, police said on Monday.
The incident occurred when the dumper, which was moving along an embankment, lost control and fell onto a residential house at Barbheta village. Five members of the same family were sleeping inside the house at the time of the accident. Two of them killed on the spot, while the remaining three were critically injured.
Upon receiving information, police rushed to the scene and shifted two injured women and a child to a nearby hospital for treatment. The deceased have been identified as Shahida Khatun and her four-year-old daughter, Majeda Khatun. Their bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.
Police said the house belonged to Hasen Ali, whose entire family was present inside during the incident. Teams from Jorshimlu and Sonatali police stations are jointly investigating the case to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.----------
