Somnath, Gujarat, 11 January (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed profound awe on Sunday after immersing himself in the majestic Somnath Swabhiman Parv celebrations, participating in the electrifying Shourya Yatra and sharing evocative images from the event on social media.
In a poignant post on his X account,PM Modi reflected: I feel immensely proud to have joined the Shourya Yatra. This occasion blessed me with the fortune to pay homage to the countless valiant sons of Mother India who laid down their lives defending the temple. Their indomitable courage and heroism shall eternally inspire every citizen.
During his address, PM Modi evoked the temple's timeless resonance: Somnath evokes profound emotion and bliss. A thousand years ago, our ancestors staked their lives for faith, belief, and Mahadev, sacrificing everything. Invaders then believed they had triumphed, yet today—millennia later—Somnath Mahadev's flag flutters defiantly, proclaiming to the cosmos the true might and strength of Hindustan.
The Prime Minister graced the sacred Shourya Yatra at Gir Somnath district's iconic Somnath Temple, honoring ancient warriors who perished safeguarding the shrine across centuries.
Under the Swabhiman Parv—commemorating 1,000 years since historical invasions and 75 years of reconstruction—the procession featured a symbolic cavalcade of 108 horses, revered in Indian tradition as emblems of valor, sacrifice, and devotion. This vivid spectacle vividly revived the pages of history, captivating devotees and underscoring Somnath's unyielding legacy of resilience.
