
Nagpur. 10 Jan
(HS): The Enforcement Directorate raided 12 locations in Nagpur district in
connection with illegal sand using fake royalty papers. The simultaneous raids
were carried in association with ED teams from Mumbai and Delhi on Friday. They
were accompanied by the Central Security Force personnel.
The raid were
carried out in Saoner, Rampuri village in Patansawangi, Gosewadi village in
Khapa and other places.
Nagpur’s Sadar
Police had registered a case related to cheating, foregy and use of fake
documents for illegal sand transportation on January 19, 2022. During the
initial investigation police had arrested Rahul Khanna from Bhopal in Madhya
Pradesh.
The complainant
in the case, Santosh Baburao Gaikwad, had explained the modus operandi of the
racket and provided some evidence related to fake transport permits for sand
excavation in Narsinghpur district in Madhya Pradesh. Investigation also
revealed that sand mafia in Maharashtra’s Wardha, Yavatmal, Bhandara and
Chandrapur were also in contact with Khanna.
The ED has not
officially revealed the details of seizures during the raids.
