German Foreign Minister Johann David Wadephul is on an official visit to India and will hold high-level meetings in New Delhi today with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.
Johann David Wadephul, who arrived in India earlier this week, visited Bengaluru on Tuesday, where he toured the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), underscoring Berlin’s keen interest in expanding bilateral cooperation in cutting-edge technology, space collaboration, and innovation-driven industries.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the minister’s New Delhi engagements will focus on strengthening the India–Germany Strategic Partnership, which this year marks its 25th anniversary. His meeting with Minister Goyal is expected to center around boosting trade and investment ties, while discussions with Dr. Jaishankar are likely to highlight foreign policy coordination, regional security, and global challenges such as climate change and sustainable development.
Following his meetings in the Indian capital, Wedephul is scheduled to depart for Germany. The Ministry emphasized that his participation will lend fresh momentum to bilateral relations and further consolidate India–Germany cooperation across diplomatic, economic, and strategic domains.
