- Marks Day as State Sports Day

Guwahati (Assam), 03 September (HS): Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday extended warm birthday wishes to legendary Assamese sportsperson and the first from the state to receive the prestigious Arjuna Award, Bhogeswar Baruah.

The Chief Minister described Baruah as a source of inspiration and an exemplary figure whose life continues to motivate generations. He noted that the State Government observes the veteran athlete’s birthday as State Sports Day.

On this occasion, Sarma conveyed his heartfelt greetings to every sportsperson of Assam, expressing hope that they would move ahead with determination, inspired by the ideals of the iconic athlete.
