New Delhi, 2nd September(HS): Addressing the 20th Global Sustainability Summit organized by the CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, underscored India’s commitment to resilient, regenerative, and responsible development. Emphasizing sustainability as a lifestyle choice, he called for global adoption of economy-wide solutions rooted in circular economy, nature-positive actions, and green manufacturing.

Yadav spotlighted India’s recent policy milestones, including the Environment Audit Rules 2025 establishing a robust framework for environmental accountability; the enhanced Green Credit Programme fostering private sector participation and climate action; and amendments to Forest Rules 2023 easing approvals for critical mineral mining under the National Critical Mineral Mission. He lauded India as the fastest-growing major economy achieving ambitious climate targets ahead of schedule through targeted schemes, renewable energy expansion, and innovative waste management underpinned by strong governance.

Pointing to campaigns like ‘Mission LiFE’ and the upcoming National Adaptation Plan, Shri Yadav said India’s model offers valuable lessons for sustainable and inclusive growth, especially for Global South nations. He urged industry and global stakeholders to integrate sustainability into corporate strategies, concluding, “By embracing resilience, regeneration, and responsibility, let us chart a course towards a more sustainable world.” The summit, attended by delegates from over 10 countries and industry leaders, aims to pioneer transformative pathways for an inclusive, thriving future .
