Imphal, 02 September (HS): Two hand grenades were recovered near the Palace Compound residence of Manipur Rajya Sabha MP Sanajaoba Leishemba, officials informed on Tuesday.

The explosives were located at the entrance of Bal Bidya Mandir School, which stands barely 50 metres from the MP’s house. CRPF personnel stationed at the school noticed the grenades and immediately raised an alarm.

Soon after, a bomb disposal unit reached the spot, examined the items, and confirmed that both lacked detonators, rendering them non-functional.

Following the recovery, Porompat police registered a case and initiated a probe to ascertain the motive and trace those behind the incident.------
