Imphal, 02 September (HS): In a major crackdown across Manipur, police and security forces arrested six individuals, including two insurgent cadres and seized drugs, liquor and cash during a series of operations in last 24 hours.
Officials confirmed on Thursday that Laikhuram Bhogendro Singh alias Inao (58), a KCP (NOYON) operative, was held in Imphal East. Another militant, PREPAK rebel Irengbam Ibomcha Meitei alias Anthony, was arrested from the Gourangor area under Lamlai police station.
Meanwhile, two residents of Andro Khuman Leikai in Imphal East were caught in Kakching district’s Buffalo farm area. They were found transporting 260 litres of illicit liquor in a four-wheeler, police said.
In Thoubal district’s Lilong Hangamthabi locality, a team detained Makakmayum Musharaf and Ruhani. From their possession, authorities recovered 2.357 kg of methamphetamine WY tablets, ₹2.04 lakh in cash, six mobile phones, notebooks, multiple ID cards, a walkie-talkie with charger and jewelry.
Separately, as part of an ongoing drive against vehicle-related offences, tinted films were removed from six vehicles across different locations in the state.
According to police, the coordinated drives are part of the government’s intensified action against insurgency, drug trafficking, illicit liquor trade and traffic violations. --------
