New Delhi, September 2 (HS) : Amid ongoing Operation Sindhur, heightened military activities continue along the coastal regions between India and Pakistan in the Arabian Sea. On Tuesday, the Indian Air Force launched a two-day air exercise off the coasts of Gujarat and Rajasthan in the Arabian Sea. The exercise commenced at approximately 11 a.m. and is scheduled to conclude by 2 p.m. on September 3. The exercise zone is located just 200 nautical miles from Pakistan’s Karachi coast and approximately 70 nautical miles from Pakistan-controlled airspace.

According to the Indian Air Force, this is a routine exercise for which a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) had been issued in advance. A NOTAM is a type of notification providing important information or warnings regarding specific locations or situations in the aviation domain. Its purpose is to inform those involved in flight operations of conditions that may not be available in standard publications in a timely manner. The NOTAM alerts relevant stakeholders about unusual or abnormal conditions affecting parts of the national airspace system.

The two-day air exercise in the Arabian Sea, conducted close to Pakistani airspace near Karachi, began on September 2 at 11 a.m. and will conclude on September 3 at 2 p.m. Air Force officials described the operation as a routine training mission, with official NOTAMs issued to alert aviation stakeholders accordingly.

Since mid-August, with Operation Sindhur ongoing, both Indian and Pakistani navies have conducted several naval exercises in the Arabian Sea near their respective maritime boundaries. Between August 11 and 12, the navies imposed aerial traffic restrictions and issued NOTAMs to airmen in their respective areas during exercises. While the Indian Navy played a zero combat role in Operation Sindhur, its warships demonstrated maritime strength through exercises in the Arabian Sea. The Pakistani Navy also conducted naval drills in its waters alongside Indian firing exercises. Following the Pulwama terrorist attack, amid concerns of potential Indian military action, Pakistani armed forces showcased advanced weapons through military exercises near the Line of Control and in the Arabian Sea.
