02 Sept (HS): State Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that in
the cabinet meeting held in Lok Bhavan, Lucknow on Tuesday under the
chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the proposal to establish Swami
Shukdevanand University in Shahjahanpur has been approved. For this, the
educational units of Mumuksh Ashram Trust will be upgraded.
At
present, Swami Shukdevanand College, Swami Shukdevanand Law College, Shri
Daivik Sampad Brahmacharya Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Shri Dharmanand Saraswati
Inter College and Shri Shankar Mumuksh Vidyapeeth are operating under the
trust. After the establishment of the university, these will be operated under
the university.
According to the report of District Magistrate Shahjahanpur,
the trust has a total of 21.01 acres of land available, out of which about 20
acres of land will be allotted for the university. In the first phase, an MoU
will be signed between the Higher Education Department and the Mumuksh Ashram
Trust. After this, formal proceedings will be completed under the Uttar Pradesh
State University Act 1973.
