Dibrugarh, 02 September (HS): A three-day grand Butterfly Festival was celebrated at Dihing Patkai National Park with participation from experts and enthusiasts across the Northeast. The event was jointly organized by the Assam Forest Department along with Green Bud Society, North East Birding Tour, Trails of North East, Rainforest Indian, Backpack Go Adventure, Krishna Dorikham Homestay and Patkai Lebangkula Yuvak Sangha, among others.
Nearly 70 representatives from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland and Assam joined the festival, which featured workshops and field activities under the guidance of several butterfly specialists.
The celebration began at Lakhipathar and Charai Pung in the eastern part of the park and concluded in the western region. Known for its rich biodiversity, Dihing Patkai National Park is home to around 379 species of butterflies—including the rare Blue Nawab, Kohinoor and Black Raja—along with 49 species of mammals and 111 varieties of orchids.-------
